HANARE takes its name from the 離れ — the detached room a Japanese house keeps for its most honoured guests.
In a traditional Japanese residence, the hanare (離れ) is the detached room — a quiet annex apart from the main house, kept for honoured guests. It is not larger than the rest of the home, nor louder. It is simply set aside.
That is the kind of travel we arrange: a step away from the itineraries anyone can buy, into the rooms, tables and friendships that Tokyo keeps for the people it trusts.
HANARE is a Tokyo land operator — the house that arranges, on the ground, what the travel advisor sells. We arrange and run journeys in Tokyo and its day-reach. And we are few, by design: every brief is answered by the same hands that carry it out — you reach the people who do the work, directly.
